Hello to all our fans!
It has been a while since our first post as things have been pretty busy for us here in Blue Door Land. Our violist has started classes at Brooklyn College along with a new job teaching at a charter school. Our second violinist has been putting together our new website which will hopefully be up and running soon, along with designing some business cards and fliers for when we play at gigs and other places in and around Brooklyn. We have also been rehearsing every week in order to get ready for whatever comes our way.
Our next wedding is coming up on October 8th. We are playing for the wedding of a friend of our cellist, Sharon, at The Swan Club on Long Island. Preparation for this has taken quite some time as she has requested some very specific pieces of music for her ceremony. The processional, "Sanctuary" by Twila Paris, needed some rearrangement and extra rehearsals with the pianist, Shannon. We have to thank Ripley-Grier Studios in Midtown Manhattan for not only accommodating our first room rental but allowing us to move to another room when we had to have a few more minutes to run through some items. The rehearsal went well and we are excited to have the bride here her processional in two weeks.
We have been rehearsing to not only get ready for the upcoming wedding but we are also in the process of expanding our repertoire to include some bluegrass and fiddle quartet music. So far we have only been working on one piece (the other books are on their way), but it has been a lot of fun. Hopefully we can have some recordings up soon so those who are curious can hear what we sound like.
That's it for now. When we get more playing opportunities in the community we will keep you posted.

Why Hello There
We are Blue Door Quartet, your go to string ensemble for your wedding, reception, or other special event. We are a relatively new group but we all bring years of playing experience to what we do. We started out as members of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, but when our first violinist had a friend ask him for some wedding music he brought us all together into what has become a cohesive musical group that has fun playing together both in rehearsal and in public. So far we have played a wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a garden party for an apartment building in Bay Ridge (pictured above with friend to BDQ, Mo, on second), and we make freak appearances at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg on the random sunny Sunday.
This blog is going to be used to keep everyone updated on our adventures in wedding music, make us more visible to the internet browsing world, and to display our talents in photos, videos, and sound clips. It my be a bit barren around here for a little while but we will do our best to keep it up and looking good. You can also find us on Facebook and become a friend where you can leave us messages, upload pictures if you see us at the Flea, and hopefully listen to some sound clips in the near future.
Keep us in mind if you or a friend is in need of music to give your special occasion a memorable touch and keep checking back with us for more updates on our adventures as we travel the NYC area.
Thanks!!
